MAROULI ROMAINE SEEDS
Lactuca sativa
ORGANIC
Classical Greek gardeners were passionate about vegetables. Like many of us, they were anxious to grow new and exciting varieties. At some point in the distant past, the name for lettuce in Greece changed from the ancient thridakinos to marouli, due entirely to the preference for a named cultivar, almost certainly Roman, called “Marouli".
As you might expect, these seeds produce the lettuce that we call “romaine". Crisp bright green heads sometimes produce multiple hearts, a quirk of old lettuces that has now, somehow, been patented. Be ungovernable and grow some prior art in your garden.
Best sown into flats and transplanted in early spring and autumn.
Packet contains at least 300 seeds.
