Pink Plume Celery
Pink Plume Celery
PINK PLUME CELERY SEEDS
Apium graveolens
ORGANIC
Unique and beautiful dusky pink celery first offered in 1894 by Peter Henderson & Company. Recently reintroduced by Seed Savers' Exchange. Surprisingly vigorous growth. Good stalk size and texture. Flavor is incredibly aromatic and reminiscent of fennel or angelica. Sublime with a Green Goddess dip or topped with sweet creamy gorgonzola and toasted walnuts. A truly elegant vegetable.
Sow into 2” cell flats in late winter. Cover with plastic to maintain moisture. Kept cool (around 60°F) and moist in bright light, seeds germinate over the course of two to three weeks. Uncover and grow on in bright light at room temperature. Fertilize weekly with dilute seaweed extract. Harden off and transplant outdoors into fertile soil around the date of the last spring frost, spacing generously. Can also be sown directly into the garden in early spring and thinned to at least 8”. Best in rich moist soil. Irrigate or water regularly throughout the growing season. Not a cutting celery like our Chinese Pink Celery, but still more vigorous and easier to grow than common celery. Highly recommended.
Packet contains 500 seeds.
