ROSE POTPOURRI SWEET CORN

Zea mays

ORGANIC & BIODYNAMIC

Purple sweet corn. No kidding. Bred by Dr. Alan Kapuler in Corvallis, Oregon, this spectacular strain is still a work in progress, but is impressive nonetheless.

Strong 5'-7' stalks produce one or two ears of mostly pink, purple, dark red, and sometimes nearly black corn. Many of the stalks and most of the husks are blushed or saturated with red. Just a few of the ears will be white, yellow and bi-color, but all will be absolutely delicious, with good old-fashioned sweet corn flavor. Best to eat or freeze as soon as ears are cut from the stalks. Ideal for home gardens.

These seeds were grown by Turtle Tree here in the Hudson Valley. Marketed as “Double Red" elsewhere, Turtle Tree have rechristened this selection “Rose Potpourri" to better represent the diversity of color present in this strain. They continue to reselect for more uniform color, but in the meantime this is still perhaps the most magical non-SE sweet corn available to gardeners.

Packet contains at least 100 seeds.
