TRAIL OF TEARS POLE BEAN
Phaseolus vulgaris
An historic heirloom pole bean named for the forced relocation of Native Americans from their homes in the Southeast to Oklahoma. Introduced to the trade by Dr. John Wyche. Grows like gangbusters. Pink edible flowers. Young green beans are great for fresh eating and freezing, and the dried black beans are even better. Makes incredible black bean soup. Produces a huge crop. Vines will grow to well over 10'. Early. Recommended, especially for beginning gardeners.
Sow directly into garden soil that has warmed to at least 65°F. Provide a trellis, teepee or tall corn stalks for beans to climb. These seeds will produce very vigorous and fast-growing vines that require support. For storage, allow to dry for as long as possible on the vine before drying completely indoors. Shell and freeze beans to kill any bean weevils before storing in an airtight glass jar.
Packet contains at least 100 seeds.
