FEVERFEW SEEDS

Tanacetum parthenium

An ancient and very effective medicinal herb. The value of this species in treating migraine headaches should be common knowledge by now. Though the exact mechanism is unclear, the efficacy is well documented and easily researched. And it should be noted that the dose of A SINGLE LEAF is frequently sufficient to effect physiological change.

This superior selection contains higher concentrations of parthenolide and caffeoylquinic acid than common varieties. For those suffering chronic pain, the effects of Feverfew can be profound, but individuals with heart conditions should consider alternatives, as should pregnant and breastfeeding women. Feverfew interacts with several prescription medications. Careful research is recommended. Feverfew leaves, teas and extracts should not be imbibed willy nilly. In some people the fresh leaves will irritate the skin and mouth. Take care to test for contact dermatitis before nibbling.

Feverfew is easy to grow from seed: press into damp soil, just barely cover seeds with fine vermiculite and mist with warm water. Kept warm and moist in bright light the seeds should germinate within two weeks. Transplant seedlings with true leaves into 3" pots to grow on in bright light at warm room temperature. Pinch to encourage branching.

Suitable for growing in containers, even small terra cotta pots. Every household with a migraine sufferer should have a plant at the ready. Hardy to zone 5 at least. Will self-sow where it is happy.

Packet contains at least 100 seeds.
