CLEMATIS ‘BLUE RIBBONS'
Clematis integrifolia ‘Blue Ribbons'
Very nice selection of the species, one with considerably shorter stature but much larger and consistently true blue flowers. Plants top out at just over 1' but are super floriferous, with flowers that are around 2" across. Fairly adaptable and tolerant of poor soils and occasional dry spells. Suitable for cutting. Blooms over two months or so in spring and summer.
Seeds germinate best with some cold. Sow into pots of moist soil covered with plastic and place in a sheltered location outdoors in late winter or early spring. Seeds will germinate over several weeks as weather warms in the spring. Alternatively, place pots into the refrigerator for 2-4 weeks and then under bright lights at cool room temperature to germinate over two weeks or so. Prick out seedlings to grow on in individual deep 3" pots in bright light. Water and fertilize regularly and harden off before transplanting into moist soil in full sun in spring or autumn. Water frequently until established.
An extraordinary and uncommon choice for the front of the perennial border. Suitable for both highly designed and informal landscapes. Great with hardy geraniums.
Hardy to at least zone 3.
Packet contains at least 10 seeds.
