CORSICAN VIOLET SEEDS
Viola corsica
Native to the islands of Corsica and Sardinia, this tough little perennial violet deserves more attention from gardeners. Corsican Violet can tolerate moderately dry soil and more sun than other violets, and blooms throughout the season.
Corsican Violet flowers are edible, and are a great addition to an edible flower garden. Flowers grow upright on 8” stems and are great for small bouquets. In cool summer climates they are beautiful in the Alpine or rock garden.
If sown early, Corsican Violets will bloom the first year, and are far easier from seed than other violets: sow seeds just below soil surface, tamp soil gently and mist. Cover with plastic to maintain moisture. Kept warm (around 70°F) and moist in bright light they will germinate within a week or two. Uncover seedlings and prick out to grow on in individual containers or flats once they have two sets of true leaves. Transplant into the garden after the last frost.
Corsican Violets tend to flop in a container. They are best grown in the ground.
Packet contains a minimum of 30 seeds.
