WHITE CHIMNEY BELLFLOWER

Campanula pyramidalis alba

This Balkan native has been a beloved cottage garden perennial for generations. Fragrant glowing white flowers on statuesque stems to 5'. Magical in the evening. Far more striking in the landscape than the common blue strain. Makes a spectacular cut flower.

Most of these tiny seeds will germinate readily given warmth and light. Press seeds into moist soil, do not cover. Mist carefully with warm water. Kept warm (70°F) and moist in bright light germination will begin in a week or so. Prick out sturdy seedlings to grow on in individual deep pots or cells. Fertilize weekly with very dilute seaweed extract. Transplant well-rooted plants outdoors after the last frost of spring.

Chimney Bellflowers are very adaptable and will tolerate diverse soils in full sun or part shade. Sometimes short-lived, but will self-sow where it is happy. Typically blooms the first year from an early sowing. Can also be sown in summer and transplanted to the garden in autumn for bloom in the second year.

Packet contains at least 500 tiny seeds.
