BLOOD RED SWEET WILLIAM SEEDS

Dianthus barbatus atrosanguineus

Velvety blood red flowers are borne in impressive clusters atop 20" stems. Reminiscent of ancient beloved hybrids described in historic garden literature. Intense fragrance is sweet and deliciously spicy. Foliage becomes a handsome dark bronze in cold weather.

Sweet William is typically listed as a hardy biennial, but it will behave like an annual if started indoors and transplanted in early spring. Will self-sow where it is happy and will cross readily with other Sweet Williams. Bag unopened flowers if you wish to save seed.

Edible flowers. Makes an impressive bouquet. One of the more worthwhile of the species.
