Mango Melon
Mango Melon
MANGO MELON SEEDS
Cucumis melo var. chito
ORGANIC
An excellent strain of this strange and historic melon, also known as Vine Peach. Small saturated yellow fruits have solid pure white flesh with a subtle spicy floral fragrance.
The flesh of Mango Melons is most often prepared as preserves or pickles in American kitchens, though it is also employed as vegetable in Caribbean cuisine, and is a fine addition to coconut based curries and cooked chutneys. The raw fruit may also be carefully balled and macerated with sugar and lemon juice. The result is magically fragrant and absolutely exquisite in a cocktail with Hendrick's Gin, St-Germain or Lillet Blanc. Swoon.
Sow seeds into warm garden soil in full sun after all danger of frost has passed, or start indoors about 4 weeks before transplanting. Mango Melons require less fertility and fuss than common melons, though young plants still need warmth and water and protection from insect pests like vine borers and squash bugs. Very productive where they are happy. Ripe fruits in about 80 days.
Packet contains at least 10 seeds.
