One of the earliest and easiest heirloom beets. An ancient and peculiar variety that grows almost entirely above the ground, with just a threadlike taproot growing deep into the soil. May be harvested approximately 50 days from sowing.

Roots are the darkest of dark blood red. Harvested young, these beets are beautiful and uniform and tender. Perfect for roasting or pickling. Suitable for juicing. An excellent selection for medicinal applications.

Beets are among the most nutritious of foods available from our gardens. Flat of Egypt is easy to grow and highly recommended for imperfect soils. Very forgiving of crowding.

Sow outdoors once soil has warmed to at least 50°F. Can be sown throughout the growing season until about 6 weeks before the first frost in autumn.
