Ormskirk Cabbage
Ormskirk Cabbage
ORMSKIRK CABBAGE SEEDS
Brassica oleracea var. capitata
ORGANIC
An old English heirloom from the ancient market town of Ormskirk in Lancashire. Gorgeous deeply savoyed and puckered green leaves form tight heavy heads in cold late autumn and winter. Extraordinarily hardy. Sweet nutty flavor (for a cabbage).
Start these seeds in flats in May through July for transplant in June through August. How early to plant depends on climate. Ormskirk is very late to head, and best in a long lingering autumn or mild winter. Not appropriate for Midwestern gardens. Does well with protection in the Northeast. Fairly compact. More heads of Ormskirk can be squeezed into a greenhouse or cold frame than the more common January King.
Packet contains at least 100 seeds.
