SANGRIA AGASTACHE SEEDS
Agastache mexicana ‘Sangria’
The “lemon balm” of Mexico, this species is an incredibly beautiful tender perennial that makes the most amazingly fragrant herbal tea. The selection ‘Sangria’ is also a dramatic ornamental. Plants grow to 4' and are topped with stunning deep pink blossoms and bracts that flower from summer through late autumn, right up until the first hard freeze. Ideal for fallscaping.
Seeds are difficult to come by. My plants yield very few. But the plants are easy to grow; start indoors at 70°F in bright light several weeks before the last spring frost. Transplant into warm soil in full sun after the last spring frost. Does not require pinching. Established plants are very tolerant of heat and drought.
Deserves to be more widely grown, although the price can be prohibitive. Obtaining viable seeds in northern gardens is a challenge, making the seeds outrageously expensive. Do make an effort to save all that you can! Very worthwhile for tea lovers. All aerial portions of this plant make a superlative infusion fresh or dried.
Packet contains at least 15 seeds.
