Rossa di Milano
Rossa di Milano
ROSSA DI MILANO
Allium cepa
ORGANIC
Finally! An improved organic selection of this classic Italian onion, made by beloved seed whisperer Dr. John Navazio. Distinctive flat shoulders and slightly tapered ends. Fantastic flavor. And an excellent keeper! Better than any other open-pollinated red that we know of, including Red Wethersfield.
Rossa di Milano is a great all-purpose winter onion, but makes an especially flavorful roasting onion. Like candy in combination with cubed butternut squash and brussels sprouts on a big cookie sheet. Sublime on its own or with Wild Fennel in a savory pie or tart.
Long day type, suitable for northern gardens. Where seasons are short, start these seeds indoors in flats as early as January. Transplant seedlings as soon as the soil can be worked. Space generously, as these onions can become quite large. Harvest as soon as top growth begins to die back. Cure in the sun for about a week. Allow tops to dry completely before braiding.
Packet contains at least 100 seeds.
