BAICAL SCULLCAP SEEDS
Scutellaria baicalensis
Prescribed for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the root of Baical Scullcap is antioxidant, hepatoprotective, and a powerful antibiotic. Recent studies have shed light on baicalein and its potential anti-tumor and anti-viral properties, including the possibility that it may inhibit HIV replication. Additionally, Baical Scullcap is a very beautiful perennial bedding plant that is easily grown in common garden soil.
Sow seeds directly into the garden in spring, or start indoors several weeks before the last frost: sow seeds onto moist soil, barely covering with additional soil or fine vermiculite; mist; cover with plastic; kept moist in bright light, seeds will germinate at room temperature in 1-3 weeks. Prick out seedlings once they have true leaves to grow on in individual 3" pots in bright light. Transplant to the garden after the last frost. Plants prefer full sun and good garden soil. Will tolerate drought once established.
Roots should be harvested no sooner than autumn of the second year. Careful research into medicinal uses and preparation is strongly recommended. One of the most potent medicines that may be obtained from the garden. Hardy to zone 4.
This seed is from plants bred specifically for medicinal use. Plants will contain a high concentration of baicalein.
Packet contains at least 30 seeds.
